【Important】 Changes to Delivery Methods and Shipping Rates

We are implementing the following changes to ensure product quality and safe delivery.

1. Shipping Method:
From standard temperature shipping to refrigerated shipping (Cool Bin)
※Carrier: Yamato Transport

2. Shipping Fee Revision:
A flat increase of 330 yen will be applied.

3. Period:
From Wednesday, July 3, 2024 to Monday, September 30, 2024 (scheduled)

【Reason for the Change】
Currently, most of our mead is bottled in 500ml screw-cap bottles. Unlike crown caps, these caps can leak if stored on their side due to increased internal pressure.
There are two main factors that cause internal pressure to rise and lead to leakage:

1. Rising temperatures inside the bottle causing gas expansion

2. Vibrations causing minute gaps in the cap

This summer is particularly hot, and storing or shipping the bottles on their sides increases the risk of leakage.

Please continue to ensure that you do not store them on their side when informing customers or shipping orders yourself.

【Mead Storage Instructions】
Store in a cool, dark place.
The "dark" part is arguably more important. Even though mead is relatively shelf-stable, exposure to strong direct sunlight will accelerate its deterioration.

Regarding temperature, it is fine as long as it is within room temperature. We define room temperature as 28°C or below. Temperatures above this will accelerate the rate of degradation; stability is higher at 20°C than at 28°C, and higher still at 12°C than at 20°C.

However, this stability varies by type of alcoholic beverage. Since mead has fewer factors that lead to oxidative degradation, it deteriorates more slowly than typical alcoholic beverages, and storage at room temperature is generally not a problem.
