A project introducing places where you can enjoy wonderful mead.
“A Guide to Mead”

Just like a guidebook you rely on when traveling through unfamiliar lands, we hope this project will serve as a way to share how to enjoy drinks that might be unfamiliar to you. We aim to introduce not only ways to enjoy mead, but also the excellence of the shops and wonderful pairing examples.

Today, we are visiting “KINOSHITA” in Nagoya. After taking a walk from the Nagoya landmark "Nagoya Castle" through the urban oasis of Meijo Park, you will find a seemingly ordinary residential area, within which this hideaway quietly stands. Look for the green “KINOSHITA” logo. Climb the stairs of the two-story building, and you will see a wonderful glass-walled shop.

1. Access
Located a 13-minute walk from Exit 1 of Meijo Koen Station on the Meijo Subway Line. Look for the green "KINOSHITA" logo.

2. History
The concept is “All We Like.” The shop opened in April 2022 as a place to share what we like, as much as we like.
---
Focusing on the three pillars of food/drink, apparel, and gallery, we poured our hearts into this, hoping to walk alongside customers, friends, family, and loved ones to create a shop uniquely our own, and a place where everyone can gather. (From KINOSHITA's Instagram)

---

The owner, Ryota Kinoshita, also runs an apparel and goods brand called "CLUB SAKENOMITAI" in addition to "KINOSHITA." Started in April 2017, the concept was born from the frustration of being unable to drink at post-show parties because he was driving while working as staff for indie bands. He produces items he himself wants to wear, with the wish that one can keep toasting with friends forever.@clubsakenomitai

The interior is a stylish space that feels like an art exhibition. There’s warm atmospheric lighting, artworks by various artists, apparel goods on display, and cool music playing from a turntable. And the warm smiles and conversation of the staff lift the mood even further.

3. Food & Drink
The lineup is centered around Mexican cuisine. Every single dish is prepared with care, and I couldn't help but repeat how delicious everything was. What left the biggest impression was their signature menu item: tacos. They are just incredibly delicious.

Recommended for those who aren't familiar with Mexican food, as well as those who are. It's a flavor that makes me want to eat it again just thinking about it—it actually makes my mouth water.

4. How to “Walk”
After getting to know the owner, Ryota Kinoshita, we created the mead "Kinoshita" in 2022 to celebrate the opening of his shop.

『Kinoshita × KINOSHITA Original Tacos』

└The recommended pairing for Kinoshita, which uses an abundance of pink grapefruit with a touch of chili pepper as an accent, is KINOSHITA's original tacos. It goes especially well with their beef tacos. The juicy meat drippings mingle with the crisp, clean taste of Kinoshita. It's the ultimate combination where you can't stop eating the tacos and drinking the mead. We visited as a pair, and we ended up drinking more than a full 750ml bottle...
※Incredibly, KINOSHITA is the only place in Japan where you can drink 750ml bottles of Kinoshita!🕊️

5. Open
18:00-23:00 (L.O. 22:30)
Fri-Sun *Irregular holidays

For detailed business hours, please refer to the shop's Instagram.

"KINOSHITA," the place where the mead "Kinoshita" shines the brightest.

The shop is filled with wonderful clothes and goods that make you feel like you've joined the ranks of stylish people just by wearing or owning them. I was so intent on joining "CLUB SAKENOMITAI" that I even bought a floor mat.

I hope this has shared a bit of "how to walk" with mead. Which shop should I walk to next?
