Summer fatigue.

Another sweltering summer is here. Just hearing the news about the extreme heat is enough to make me feel worn out, even though I never asked for the updates and didn't raise my hand to hear them.

"You'll get worn out if you don't eat,"

there’s no one around to look after me like that, so I have to take care of my own health myself. In that case, time for a drink. Let's have a drink and get energized. We’ve made a gentle mead for everyone who feels the same way.

Jog week

As we get older and life becomes increasingly busy, a week flies by in the blink of an eye. I don't think I'll ever be a marathon runner, but even Kyu-chan would be surprised by this pace. It’s okay to have a week where you want to take it slow every once in a while. Jog week is a mead designed to gently nudge you in that direction, themed around a week spent jogging.

The Bankan citrus we squeezed together during Golden Week mingled with a touch of yuzu, transforming into a very gentle mead. They say that a creator’s personality comes through in the taste, and I truly felt that when I saw such kind-hearted people come to our open house.

〈From all over Japan to Yasu〉

"We're opening up our facility, so why don't we all process some fruit together?"

"That sounds fun! Let's do it!"

That was the manifesto ANTELOPE posted in April to attract participants. Okada-kun insisted on using 400kg of Bankan, but Tanizawa and Yusuke alone couldn't handle it.

Like a blond-haired hero asking for everyone's energy, Tanizawa called out for your help. As a result, kind-hearted people gathered from all over the country to peel the Bankan with us. It was a wonderful time, and I put my heart into brewing this mead, hoping to capture that experience.

〈Tasting Note〉
Light in alcohol with a hint of residual sugar. The gentle acidity of the yuzu added at the finish makes it perfect for relaxing. The green, slightly spicy aroma is a byproduct of the Bankan’s freshness. It is a calm, laid-back drink that fits the feeling of early summer.

Style: Fruited Sour Sparkling Mead / Melomel

ABV (Alcohol by Volume): 4%

Carbonation: Yes
Volume: 500ml
Ingredients: Bankan (from Uwajima, Ehime), Honey, Yuzu
Sweetness (10-point scale): 6 (Semi-Sweet)

〈Mead making〉
As mentioned, the Bankan was prepared with everyone's help. The juice was mixed with honey and fermented fully. The peels were kept fresh, zested, and frozen. Just before fermentation finished, they were steeped alongside the yuzu juice. We intentionally left the zest in during the pasteurization process to bring out a hint of bitterness as an accent.

〈Naming〉
I've reached an age where I want to shout "Stop!" to the weeks that dash by before I know it. I hope you'll spend your evenings with the relaxed mindset of a light jog, and I chose this name to accompany you on those nights.
