"Jumeaux," which means "twins" in French, is a mead we created to celebrate the opening of the second store of the Niigata liquor shop Hasegawaya. It uses Le Lectier pears and Chinese quince from Abe Farm, also in Niigata; when you take a sip, the fragrances of both gently tickle your palate.

It has a distinct acidity from lactic acid, which is because in terms of our family lineup, it is like a twin to our standard product, "The Last Supper." We brewed it with the goal of getting the final alcohol content and finish sweetness as close to The Last Supper as possible.

It pairs very well with caprese and fruit, making it a bottle you can easily enjoy starting from lunch. The flowers on the label are a token of our congratulations.

The Jumeaux brewed in '24 has a significantly increased amount of Le Lectier and quince for a juicier mouthfeel. It is very cute, with a sharp acidity. It also pairs well with the umami-rich cuisine of the Sea of Japan coast. Please try pairing it with local products.

〈Niigata→Peace〉

I want you to know the story from the very beginning, so I have left the Brewer's Note as it was.

I was filled with excitement once it was decided that we would collaborate with Hasegawaya and Abe Farm in Niigata. Both Le Lectier and quince were materials we were using for the first time, and I was also thrilled about ripening the "twin" fruits we received, which were harvested while still green, ourselves.

Amidst all this excitement and with the release date already set, the earthquake on January 1, 2024, occurred.

More than the release, I was primarily worried about the safety of everyone in the Hokuriku region, and after confirming their safety, I began thinking about what help we could provide. I was good at the "studying" kind of school exams, but I have very little experience in the real world and am the type who has no idea what to do in situations like this.
I just thought that if our drinks could bring even a little bit of a smile to those who pick them up, that might be all I can really do. I actually wanted to use some of the proceeds to volunteer, but looking at the news, general access to the disaster area was blocked, so this time we will simply donate 100 yen per bottle sold.

Our production volume is very small, and it may not be a donation amount I can boast about, but I pray that even a little bit of peace will spread from Niigata to Toyama, Himi, Kanazawa, and Noto.

〈Tasting Note〉

The color is a slightly cloudy wheat color. Lightly carbonated. The aroma has strong nuances from fermentation, with the soft scent of quince lingering in the background. On the palate, there is an attack of lactic acid, followed by the refined aroma of Le Lectier and quince passing through the nose. It is a drink that lets you take a deep breath and want to enjoy a meal.

〈Mead making〉

This year's Jumeaux uses an abundant amount of quince and Le Lectier—nearly three times the amount compared to before.
By repeating the process of soaking them in the tank and aging them multiple times, the body grew, and the taste became so rich you can even feel the juiciness.

It is a bottle that is packed with the potential of Abe Farm.
