Experience a first-time thrill at our shop.

Mead, an alcoholic beverage born from honey.

Time and again, we have seen customers taste their first glass, their eyes widening in surprise, followed by a smile.

"I never knew such a drink existed."

"I want to have this again."

These voices of wonder and excitement continue to spread across our counters—

In hopes that you can bring these happy scenes we have witnessed to your own shops, we have compiled the charm of mead in our own way.

We would be delighted if this page encourages you to consider offering mead.

"What is Mead?" ends today.

Because mead is not widely distributed in Japan, it is a drink about which there is much to learn.

"What exactly is mead?"

"Should I mix it with something?"

"Who is it for and what occasions are best?"

"What kind of glass should I serve it in?"

"How should I store it?"

The questions are endless.

This page will help you resolve all of those questions.

ミードについて

An alcoholic beverage made by fermenting honey

It is not a liqueur with added alcohol, but a brewed beverage like beer or wine.

You can enjoy it as is, without mixing.

It is referred to as the oldest alcoholic beverage in human history, and there is a theory that it has existed for over 10,000 years.

Based on a rich flavor derived from honey, a wide variety of secondary ingredients such as fruits, spices, herbs, and grains can be used, allowing you to enjoy the seasonal tastes of each time of year.

〈Recommended for those who:〉
It is recommended for those who enjoy drinks while appreciating the vision of the maker, such as sake, wine, or craft beer.

Also, one of the charms of mead not found in other alcoholic beverages is that it can be enjoyed by those who do not drink because they dislike the bitterness, astringency, or other unique characteristics of alcohol.

While still rare in Japan, it has been gaining significant attention in recent years, especially in Western countries, so it is also recommended for international visitors to Japan.

How to Enjoy Mead

【How to drink】
Mead is enjoyed by pouring it directly into a glass, just like wine.

A wine glass is recommended.

For carbonated varieties, drink them chilled, just like champagne or sparkling wine. For still types, enjoy them at room temperature or slightly chilled.

Our lineup consists mostly of carbonated varieties.

【How to serve mead in your establishment】
・Dry Mead: Pairs perfectly with Japanese dishes using soy sauce or sugar, or Chinese dishes with high acidity and oil content. It cleanses the palate after rich, heavy dishes.

・Sweet Mead: Recommended for dessert pairing. It pairs wonderfully with items like ice cream or cheesecake. It can also be enjoyed on its own much like a dessert wine.
